Lindsay Komlanc

As Associate Vice President, University Communications, Lindsay Komlanc serves as a senior leader and communications strategist within the Office of Marketing and Communications at The Ohio State University. Responsible for driving proactive communications strategies for key issues and initiatives that advance the university’s priorities and mission, as well as university issues of the highest reputational significance, emergency and crisis communications, Komlanc leads both the executive communications and public affairs teams. She also acts as the primary liaison across the university to create integrated marketing and communications plans and to develop and promote strategic messaging. Working closely with the Office of the President, Cabinet leaders and marketing and communications leaders, Komlanc identifies and assembles cross-functional teams that create nimble, informed, strategic responses as issues arise, also applying the same approach to creating strategies that lead to positive approaches to promoting institutional goals and objectives. Combining expertise across teams to apply innovative approaches to engaging and connecting with multiple audiences, Komlanc supports the development and effective communication of priorities of the president of the university. She is also responsible for providing counsel and guidance to units such as the Wexner Medical Center – one of the largest academic medical centers in the country – and the Department of Athletics. Komlanc joined Ohio State in 2012 as the Director of Marketing and Communications for The Office of Administration and Planning, leading the strategic marketing and communications efforts focusing on facilities, transportation, construction, real estate and public safety, before moving to University Communications in 2014 to lead the development of the university’s strategic issues management function. That function has now grown into the creation of the public affairs team and approach to proactively responding to both issues and opportunities with internal and external stakeholders. Focusing the majority of her career on public service, Komlanc has held positions including communications director for the Ohio Department of Public Safety and various roles coordinating media and public outreach and leading communications for the statewide central communications office for the Ohio Department of Transportation. A Pittsburgh, PA native, Komlanc came to Ohio to attend Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and began service with the state of Ohio upon graduation. She currently resides in Grandview, Ohio with her husband and two dogs.
